On Wednesday, we sat down with Kurt Sasso from T.G.T. Media to discuss P.I. Jane, I See Monsters, and how we manage to work together without murdering each other (just barely). If you have some spare time, give it a listen. If you have even more time, poke around the T.G.T. site. Kurt has a ton of videos, podcasts and reviews for your infotainment!
Looking for artists who love to draw anthropomorphic food!
by admin on January 14, 2012 at 4:42 pmThe P.I. Jane team is currently putting together our second trade for c2e2, and we’re looking for a couple more Pie vs. Cake guest strips. Brenda Kirk from Geektress is lining up something special for us (we hear it involves cheesecake). And we’re definitely including this awesome Spy vs. Spy inspired piece from Tom Kelly, but we’d also like to see what you guys got! 1 to 6 panels, black and white, or full color, we don’t care, we’d just love to see your take on Pie vs. Cake!
And no, we’re sorry, there is no pay. But there is a free copy of the book involved. We’ll also feature you in the guest section of the book and on the site. Oh, and you’ll also have our eternal love. Does that work?
Deadline for this is March 19th. Shoot us an email at Greg@MonkeysplusTypewriters.com or Lauren@MonkeysplusTypewriters.com for more details!
We at Team Jane plan on posting an expanded post about our 2012 projects in the next couple days, but first, we wanted to bring your attention to WOMANTHOLOGY! It’s a HUGE 300 page anthology entirely created/written/edited by women (no outside genitals allowed!), published by IDW. The theme? Heroic. Our very own Lauren Burke has written a story that was drawn/hand-lettered by artist Megan Brennan called I’m Not OmniGirl. You can find out more info over at the Womanthology Tumblr. If you click that link to the Tumblr, you’ll find the very first artist/writer feature of the year IS Lauren and Megan! Neat-o! If you’re convinced, why not go and pre-order this behemoth from Amazon.com and save almost $20 off cover price?
We teased a teaser coming in a couple days up above. Well, here’s a teaser for the teaser for the teaser (whoa– tease-ception. we have to go deeper!). There’ll be a full-fledged, expanded OmniGirl story coming in 2012, written by Lauren, drawn/colored by Megan and lettered by our other very own Greg Sorkin. We’ll keep you updated on the details as they come up, so be sure to check out the site from time to time.
That’s it for today– we’ll have more tomorrow and next week, so y’all come back now, y’hear?
Greetings, fellow Jane-ers! Today, we’d like to let you know about an exciting new anthology that we’re involved in. It’s called InvestComics Presents: One and Done: An Anthology to Benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. Each team/individual produced a complete story– all told in a single page. Oh, and the theme was ‘death/mortality’ to ramp up the spook factor. We completed a story called Captain Amazing to the Rescue! about a faded-from-the-spotlight former TV superhero. We’re pretty proud of it, so we encourage you all to check it out when it’s released… which is still TBD, but we’ll keep you posted! To learn more about the anthology, check out the InvestComics website!
In the meantime, check out the cover (below) and we’ll talk at you again soon. Enjoy your (new comic book) Wednesday!
Kickstart Some Comic Projects (…and my heart)
by admin on January 10, 2012 at 3:17 pmLove comics but HATE having your money all dressed up with nothing to spend it on? There’s a whole world of stuff you can help bankroll on Kickstarter. We know it’s overwhelming. That’s why we found a couple of projects to get you started with crowdsourcing/crowdfunding! It’s totally the rage now, say ’90s valley girls. They’ve also expressed some interest in being gagged with spoons.
First, take a gander at the campaign for IC GEEK PUBLISHING’s Journeymen Anthology? Why? Well, for one thing this is the first issue of a quarterly anthology series designed to get new writers, pencilers, inkers, colorists, letterers and cover artists into the world of comics creation. And for another thing, our very own Greg Sorkin will be lettering the story Mascherata by Yannick Morin for the issue. For more info on the project and how to submit for yourself, do check out their website.
Another comics anthology that deserves your attention is RAIN. This book will feature 200 pages of art from the enormously talented cartooning and illustration graduates of SVA. They are fully-funded, but you should still take advantage of their awesome incentives. Throw some cash their way over HERE.
So those are just a couple titles to help get your benefactory career started. We’ll chime in from time to time with other projects that we’re either involved in or catch our eye.
In the meantime, GIVE! Every little bit counts!
